Young at heart and love the ocean and cruising!

I'm ready to continue the adventure of my life and stay away from cold & snow while doing it! I have done 9 day and 5 day passages, can tie a bowline & have helped clean the hull, provisioned, cooked, took watches, docked, anchored, handled lines, helped with sails, cleaned, fix-it projects, and was a smiling crew member during almost all of it. How can you be unhappy when you get to see the beautiful water every day and be rocked to sleep at night?

I have been a crew member on:
Boat 1- 38' monohull with extreme power & water conservation. Two months in Brunswick, GA then crossed to and around the Abacos, Bahamas.
Boat 2- 43' monohull with moderate power & water conservation. Sailed in & around the Abacos & Eleuthera, Bahamas.
Boat 3- 44' Knysna cat with moderate power & water conservation, sailed & explored Abacos to Eleuthera to the Exumas, Bahamas.
Boat 4- a 44' Tayana monohull with mod. power & water consumption. Left Baltimore and sailed/motored to Florida in 2 passages, went around Cape Hatteras. Spent 7 months on this boat on the hook. Went ALL over the Bahamas. Speared fish and lots of lobster.
Boat 5- 38’ monohull from Boston to Maine and back for a month
Boat 6- 38’ Catalina monohull Florida to Bahamas for 3 months marina living
Boat 7- 68’ Hatteras helped move from Abacos to Florida
Boat 8- 51’ Maple Leaf monohull on the west coast of Mexico from Ensenada to Zihuatanejo in a 9 day and 5 day passage. The captain and I took 6 hour watches. Volunteered at Sailfest and Guitarfest.
Boat 9- 43' Beneteau monohull in SW Florida, plans changed from cruising the Keys and the Bahamas to staying in the marina slip and only day sailing. So I'm moving on, maybe to your boat and adventure?!!

I have found the cruising lifestyle to be one I embrace and enjoy doing.

I'm a retired business owner (fabric, sewing machines and home builder/CAD house designer) and an inactive SSI Scuba Instructor. I love learning, teaching and am an experienced seamstress. If you have the sewing machine I can restitch bimini/dodgers, make cushions, etc. I'm looking for an easy-going captain who is willing to teach me more about sailing and/or living on the ocean. I love to explore, hike, snorkel, kayak, dive, relax, read a book, plan routes and watch the sunsets. I also enjoy a good game of cribbage, dominoes, etc. I enjoy a cocktail on occasion but can easily live without. A stimulating conversation is a pleasure as is quiet time to myself. Born and raised a South Dakota farm girl but love the ocean more.

I grew up and lived in South Dakota all my life but have always loved the water. At the end of 2015 I retired, sold my house and gave away most of my stuff. Since then I have lived on/helped crew boats and have finally found the place I really want to be - ON THE WATER. Being IN the water is a close second desire! Sailboat, trawler or power boats, I love them all. The Bahamas and Caribbean are beautiful. Being a scuba diver with over 400 dives the entire Caribbean has been a favorite of mine and will continue to be, but the South Pacific is calling my name. I am up for the adventure!! If I find one special person to share it with it would be great but not necessary to enjoy the ocean and all it has to offer. Please consider me for crew on your boat and to share your adventures. I have the world to discover and time to do it! I have the means to get to and from your boat and to contribute for provisions but not to support your lifestyle or maintain your boat. Hurricane season is usually spent back in South Dakota with family and friends. References available upon request.

One last thought, I'm a very blessed Christian and a grateful eternal optimist. I try to find the positive in every situation and always will!
