Deliveries, expeditions, training, consulting

USCG 100T Master with commercial tow, aux sail, STCW, and marine radio operator endorsements. PADI Divemaster. Mechanically oriented electrical & electronics engineer with a career dedicated to maritime, aerospace, and biomedical. Well versed in marine electronics, refit & repairs, and weather routing. Can troubleshoot and fix a diverse variety of issues. Semi-pro photographer and FAA registered drone pilot. Skilled at yacht & crew management.

Well networked in the industry and can rapidly assemble an effective team if needed. Have been described as dependable, charismatic, and fun to be around. Received recognitions for staying calm in emergencies and foul weather. Open minded towards alternative lifestyles and diverse religious & political views. Have traveled in 21 countries, blended in well with the locals, and honed skills to rapidly adapt to customs and local regulations.

Having spent a lifetime on & under water since childhood, I consider the sea to be my home. Earned my 50T license in 1993, with an upgrade to 100T Master in 2021.

Notable sailings included taking a cigar boat non-stop from Florida to Bahamas, taking all helm night shifts of a 56' ketch from Washington to California, working on dive charters in Turkey, beach bombing around the Mediterranean and Aegean seas, island hopping around Fiji and San Juans, double-handing a Caliber LRC around Hawaiian islands, delivering a brand new 4 million dollar cat, negotiating a tight bar entrance with a 2 million dollar cat with one engine, and serving in all roles of a 105' super yacht.

Although I greatly enjoy doing the touristy things in touristy ports, off-grid adventures are truly what feed my soul. Love exploring historical ruins and diving on remote reefs. On land, favorites are gardening, off-road camping, campfires, foraging for food, rock climbing, and anything that has to do with photography.

A cruiser at heart but also quite competitive as evidenced by a boxfull of medals from swimming. Would enjoy going for the trophies of long haul sailing races. Greatly enjoyed crewing on races in Whitsundays of Australia, historic ports of Turkey, and the notorious gusts of Hood River on the Columbia River of Oregon. Vic-Maui is a bucket list item. So is the Baja Ha-Ha.

Most recent projects included serving as captain, crew, instructor, and tour guide on various sized mono-hulls & power boats, cataramans in the 38’-65’ range, and a 105’ super yacht. Future goals are challenging deliveries, rounding Cape Horn, expedition style lean-crewed voyages, and circumnavigation on my own boat.
