Ben Ferraro
I am a USCG Licensed Captain with 25,000nm experience based out of Annapolis, MD, USA. Most of my sailing experience has been through deliveries along the east coast of the United States. Deliveries as captain include Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Annapolis, MD (Leopard 45); Annapolis, MD to Halifax, Nova Scotia (Catalina 400); and Annapolis, MD to Newport, RI (J105).
Deliveries as a mate include Annapolis, MD to Sydney, Australia (Stevens 50 Custom); Annapolis, MD to Miami, FL (Bavaria 51); Annapolis, MD to Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Leopard 45); Charleston, SC to Marsh Harbour, Bahamas (Selene 53); and Stamford, CT to Annapolis, MD (Marlow-Hunter 50).
Additionally, I have worked as a charter captain for Dream Yacht Charters out of their Annapolis, MD base, performing day and weekend charters aboard various sized Fountaine Pajot and Bali catamarans.
In the summer of 2019, I worked as a captain for a teenage summer program in the British Virgin Islands, living aboard and managing a charter sailing yacht (Moorings 51 monohull), performing three-week sailing cruises around the BVI’s and instructing sailing.
While residing in Annapolis, MD, I have worked for various marine contractors, with jobs such as yacht management, mechanical/electrical repair and maintenance, and composite repair. Most recently, I have worked for Beasley Marine, a composites shop specializing in high performance racing sailboats. Jobs included fiberglass and carbon fiber repairs and upgrades, as well as designing and building custom components for racing yachts. Additional tasks included the fairing and painting of boat hulls and bottoms to grand prix racing standards.
