Experienced traveler & cook, novice sailor looking for a position as crew on a crossing, delivery, or longer cruise
Hi! I am friendly, resourceful, and eager to learn with a growing sailing (and extensive travel) résumé. My partner Brandon and I recently completed a two week journey with eight days underway through the fjords of Chilean Tierra del Fuego, assisting the skipper/owner on his 39' Dix. We endured typical Patagonian weather (volatile, wet, and beautiful) and gained valuable experience navigating tricky coves and anchorages.
We have committed to helping with a Pacific passage on a catamaran leaving Panama for French Polynesia in mid-April, We plan to arrive in the Marquesas by mid/late May and are looking for opportunities to crew on a boat traveling from Fatu Hiva or nearby. I have my own deck vest with harness, tether, and PLB (safety first!). I am a skilled and experienced cook, having spent time catering dinner parties and making wholesome meals for large groups. I know how to cook in tight quarters, having amassed a wealth of experience in small galleys on boats and in campervans!
In the past year, we have also completed two delivery trips on a 33m sailing yacht totaling 4,000nm, one from Brisbane to Darwin and another from Bali to Phuket. I competently and reliably stood 8 hours of watch per day (including overnight), helped maintain the boat and sails, and cooked many meals for a crew of 7. We both love spending time on the water and helping on boats in any way that we can.
Brandon and I left our jobs and home in Seattle in June 2017 to travel anywhere and everywhere. I was a senior-level product manager at Amazon, and he was a Lieutenant in the Navy, and we were eager for a different type of life experience having spent the first chunk of our adult lives learning the meaning of hard work. We've been traveling for over a year now, and some of our best and most memorable experiences have been the ones at sea.
