Looking for a Crew position
Hello, I’m Maxime, a 32-year-old French man, social worker, horse rider and sailing enthusiast.
I’ve been drawn to the sea for years, and sailing fits perfectly with the way I like to travel: meeting people, working hard, learning new skills, living close to nature, and enjoying the journey as much as the destination.
I started sailing in November 2021 aboard a beautiful 16m classic sloop. Since then, I’ve logged around 2,500 nm, including a 1,000+ nm passage from Galicia to the Balearics, a Bay of Biscay crossing, day sailing in UK waters and longer flotilla passages in the Med. I’ve always sailed on sloops, doing group and solo watches, by day and night.
I recently passed my Day Skipper theory exam and am very eager to complete the practical course early next year ! While my experience is still limited, I’m increasingly comfortable with manoeuvres, navigation, theory and basic maintenance - and, above all, I’m really keen to keep learning.
I’m a hard-working, reliable and easy-going crew member. I’m calm, adaptable and curious, with a good sense of humour and a willingness to get stuck in. I’m organised and tidy, but also accommodating. I’m always happy to share my cooking, even underway, and help with whatever needs doing onboard.
I’d love to join a friendly crew, contribute wherever I can, and learn from experienced sailors along the way. I’d be thrilled to meet you and help out on your next adventure!
PS : I’m quietly but unashamedly part of the LGBT community and in that regard, a respectful atmosphere onboard is important to me.

A real pleasure to sail with
Maxime joined us onboard for a two week trial period in Galicia as a precursor to, we hope, joining us again for a longer voyage south next year. Although he had no previous sailing experience he is a keen learner, a hard worker and integrated easily into a crew of three from diverse backgrounds. He is fun, fascinating and talented - his onboard sketches and musical skills have already enhanced life onboard and our recording of it. Maxime is a great chef (vegetarian) but happy to co-exist with meat eaters. Maxime has already absorbed the key skills of watch keeping and sail handling and, whilst he still has more to learn, is simply great to sail with. His initial fears of seasickness have proven to be unfounded. I commend him to any skipper and crew. Thank you Maxime for everything you have already given us. You have been a pleasure to sail with.
