Looking for a Novice Crew position

Hello, my name is Maxime ! I'm a 29 year old man, born and raised in France. I am a social worker with a professional background in photography and videography and a sailing enthusiast.

For quite a while I've been feeling called by the sea. Sailing falls into my idea of travelling, which is based on meeting new people, working hard, learning new things and considering the trip as a destination in itself. For years, I looked from outside in, in awe and respect at the people crossing seas and oceans.

I had the wonderful opportunity of sailing around Galicia for a week in November 2021, on a beautiful classic 16m sloop. On this same yacht, I spent the entire month of June 2022 sailing 1500 nm from Galicia to the Balearic Islands. I followed up with a crossing of the Bay of Biscay on a lovely cutter. These voyages were eye-opening and only ignited my love of sailing, which I hope to nurture in the future - maybe on your sailboat ?

While my experience is still limited, I am starting to be more familiar with all aspects of sailing - whether manœuvres, theory, navigation or maintenance. I have experience doing group and solo, day and night watches.

When I commit to a project, I'm a hard and dedicated worker. I adore learning new skills, and am hoping to learn to sail with people who might enjoy teaching it, with patience and good spirit. I am looking forward to learning from you.

I am now looking into sailing plans for the summer of 2023, around European coasts. Please don't hesitate to contact me, and we can see if we're right for each other in the context of your voyage !

I'm an easy soul with my head on my shoulders, open-minded and curious. I'm very much of an enthusiast, calm and positive. I'm adaptable to situations and people alike. I pride myself on being a good communicator and listener. While I'm very organized and enjoy tidiness, I am also very accommodating.

I spend several hours cooking just about everyday, and I'll be happy to share my cooking skills (or any other skills, for that matter) with you !

Please note that I fall on the LGBT spectrum, and live quietly but openly as such.

I'll be thrilled to meet you and help you as crew on your next trip !

A real pleasure to sail with

5

Maxime joined us onboard for a two week trial period in Galicia as a precursor to, we hope, joining us again for a longer voyage south next year. Although he had no previous sailing experience he is a keen learner, a hard worker and integrated easily into a crew of three from diverse backgrounds. He is fun, fascinating and talented - his onboard sketches and musical skills have already enhanced life onboard and our recording of it. Maxime is a great chef (vegetarian) but happy to co-exist with meat eaters. Maxime has already absorbed the key skills of watch keeping and sail handling and, whilst he still has more to learn, is simply great to sail with. His initial fears of seasickness have proven to be unfounded. I commend him to any skipper and crew. Thank you Maxime for everything you have already given us. You have been a pleasure to sail with.
