Experienced Deck–Stew | Seeking Paid Sailing Position
Hello! I’m Fernanda, a 29-year-old Chilean maritime professional with several seasons of hands-on experience aboard sailing yachts, catamarans and motor yachts throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean and the Americas.
My relationship with the sea began long before yachting. I trained for over three years at the Chilean Naval Academy, competed internationally as a military swimmer and grew up surfing. Today, the ocean is not only where I work—it is where I feel most at home.
My professional experience includes working as Captain of a Bali 4.2 catamaran during a full Mediterranean season, Acting Captain and Deck/Interior crew aboard a Sanlorenzo 82’, and Deck/Stew aboard sailing yachts up to 65’. I am confident with watchkeeping, navigation support, docking and anchoring manoeuvres, tender driving, guest service, housekeeping and simple, fresh cooking. I am comfortable taking responsibility, working independently and adapting quickly to life onboard.
I hold STCW certification, a Cayman Islands Seaman’s Book and a Chilean recreational skipper licence equivalent to RYA Powerboat Level 2. I speak native Spanish, fluent English and basic Italian.
I am currently looking for a paid, long-term position aboard a sailing yacht or catamaran, ideally as Captain, Mate, Deck/Stew or in a versatile combined role. I am particularly interested in boats that value good seamanship, trust, teamwork and a warm atmosphere onboard.
My partner Dante is also available for a couple’s position. He has hospitality, service, cooking and onboard experience and is keen to continue developing professionally in the maritime industry. We work extremely well together, but I am also open to discussing individual opportunities.
I bring strong discipline, positive energy, genuine care for the vessel and guests, and above all, a deep love for life at sea. I am not simply looking for another seasonal adventure—I am looking for a boat where I can contribute, grow and build something meaningful over time.
