Looking for a position as Competent Crew.
Hi - I'm interested in finding a position as Competent Crew during the period Feb, Mar, Apr 2025, and beyond, except July. I have varied sailing experience, racing small sail boats, yachting, and professionally as Master of a square rigger, but much of that was several years ago. At that time, I navigated using paper charts. In 2022 I navigated for 3 weeks aboard a 40 ' monohull Brisbane to Cairns and was initiated into E charts. So easy! After that trip I was one of three crew for 2 months cruising and delivering a 15m cat from Tahiti to NZ, and shortly after that I assisted in delivery of a 58ft Leopard cat from Vanuatu to Cairns. In Aug 23 I sailed Mackay - Townsville ( via various reefs) aboard a 50 foot mono. In Nov 23 I crewed aboard a Beneteau 461 for 3 weeks Cairns/Lizard Is/Flinders Group/ Cairns inside the Barrier Reef. Feb 2024 saw me crewing aboard a motor cruiser in Raja Amphat Indonesia. I crewed aboard a 54 ft mono from NZ to south and north Tonga (Via Minerva Rf) in April/May 2025. am really enjoying what Crewbay has to offer. I am a fit young-at-heart 64 yo. Retirement means I can be quite flexible with time. I don’t get seasick. I can cook and I am tidy aboard ship. I don’t smoke and enjoy an ale in harbour or at anchor. I believe I can be of value and fit in with all ages for good times. I love fishing and diving. I am based on the east coast of Australia (NSW south coast) and of course am happy to fly where necessary to join a yacht, in particular warm places thereabouts. Thanks.
Experienced and great to have aboard
Neil sailed with me from New Zealand via Minerva Reef to Nuka’Alofa, Hapai and Vava’u Tonga. He was very proficient at all tasks aboard True North and often proactively took the initiative to do jobs instead of waiting to be asked. He has a good sense of humour and was good company both ashore and on passage. Our ocean passage was rough and very windy but there were no complaints from Neil. I recommend Neil and would have him back aboard anytime.
