Sailing Norway to Newcastle on gaff cutter. End of June or start of July, 2019.

Two or three experienced crew required.
Vessel is now repositioned in Kristiansand, which is served by budget airlines.

Marihøna is a beautiful wooden gaff cutter, built in Norway in 1957.
I will be sailing her from Kristiansand in Norway to the river Tyne, a trip of about 4 days. A few days waiting for suitable weather in Norway is probable.
I am looking for two or three experienced crew, with some sailing qualifications, who loves gaff rig, to join us.
Ability to do chartwork, collision avoidance according to the colregs, familiarity with normal yacht technical systems is essential.
There is no engine available on this trip, so sailing ability is also vital.
We will have a proper watch routine and do everything by the book.
She is a fast and seakindly yacht, well equipped with sails, safety equipment and emergency equipment, charts and everything that's neccessary for the crossing.
I will feed you, and a budget flight from nearby countries is possible by negotiation, if you fit the bill.
Friendly skipper, relaxed attitude, aiming for a pleasant few days sail. If any strong weather from the SW is forecast, we will spend a few more days in Norway.
Please note, this is not a lifestyle tasting experience, and I'm not running a sailing school, you will know if this trip is for you, or not.

Plenty of deck space, and a charming wood and varnish ambience below. Present ownership 5 years, a well travelled cruising yacht. Lots of rigging to play with, choice of sails, etc. She's a sister to Vixen which has circumnavigated twice. Taylors paraffin cooker, Baby Blake heads, 4 berths, lots of tools and equipment. Powerful diesel heater. Lifejackets, tethers, several handheld VHF's, GPS's, 2 x PLB's, fixed VHF and plotter, iPad with Navionics plotter installed, baro's, log and sounder, loudhailer, Navtex, fogsignals, all lights, lifebuoys, flares and smoke, Ocean Safety 4-man liferaft (self-launching), 1st aid kit, large foam fire estinguishers, spotlamp, torches. Echomax X-band RTE. Spare warm clothing, ship's library ..and loud ghetto blaster. Choice of anchors, various pumps, inflatable dinghy, boathooks etc all the usual cruising gear and more. 3 new batteries, solar panel. Navigation is by GPS and paper charts, proper chartwork and log will be followed and fixes will be plotted regularly. Regular watch system at sea. All charts and up to date Almanacs and pilots on board. Plenty of tools and spares on board. Inflatable dinghy, snorkelling gear. Owner/skipper Jerry is lighthearted and friendly, the opposite of Captain Bligh, widely experienced on all sorts of vessels over decades. Proper induction and safety briefings will be given, and I will listen to crew suggestions to improve our enjoyment or safety..or just to tweak the sheets to get another 0.5 knots.. Marihona has her own Facebook page, Marihona Gaffcutter, with pictures and updates, feel free to befriend her! Please note, Marihona is not a sailing school and solid previous experience is vital.
