About Me:
Will - 41, Virginia. Lifetime Chesapeake Bay sailor 5 years US Navy, multiple ships, circumnavigated the globe on CVN-71 USS Theodore Roosevelt and months in other various ships. Was a BM and ABF all sea duty.
I've been through weather that most sailors only read about. We went straight through hurricanes as if they weren't there - I've seen 85-foot seas rip the catwalk off the carrier and we had to rebuild it in next port. That's my normal. Rough weather doesn't scare me, I sleep like a baby in it, and I never get seasick.
If you want crew who won't tap out when it's 25kts on the nose to the Azores at 3am, cold and wet for days - I'm that guy.
Why you want me on your boat:
Hurricane / Heavy weather proven: Survived North Atlantic and Pacific storm seasons on several ships. I know what a ship can take, I stay calm, functional, and I follow orders when it gets real.
Never seasick, sleeps in anything: I can work, cook, and sleep in heavy seas. No mal de mer. Ever. I come up for my watch ready.
Navy-trained watchkeeper: Real radar/AIS watch, proper log, comms, 3-section rotation, maintenance, cleaning stations. You won't have to teach me how to stand watch.
Lifetime small boat sailor: Grew up sailing Chesapeake Bay since a toddler- I know sail trim, reefing, anchoring, night sailing, galley in a seaway. Big ship experience small boat feel.
Low maintenance, high work ethic: Handy, clean, I can cook for crew, engine checks, deck work. My space is squared away. No drama, no ego.
Logistics:
US Passport, non-smoker, fit, US East Coast based - can be in Antigua/St Lucia/St Martin within a week. Have offshore PFD/tether, foulies,, flight funds. Happy to split food/fuel/marina costs.
Available:
Anytime for any long hauls.. I want to get bluewater time on a sailboat and cross an ocean if possible. I have only had small craft experience coastally and I have gone with Carrier Strike Group 12 and traveled 50,000 nautical miles on navy ships and would like to get some experience with small craft long distance and bluewater.
