Sailor - Chef - Entrepreneur * looking for crew opportunities, mile-builders, chef position or yacht delivery crew jobs
Hello - I've just joined Crewbay. I'm interested in finding a position as a Competent Crew, Mile building on sailing yachts or motor yachts, Delivery Crew or as a fine-dining Chef. I'm looking forward to meeting some new people!
I currently live and work in France. I have been an avid sailor ever since my parents bought a yacht when I was 11 years old. My love for the sea has been flowing through my veins ever since. On my parents yacht, we sailed the length and breadth of the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and down the east coast of Africa.
I have RYA qualifications (Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper and Theory level upto YachtMaster). ICC licence and VHF operators licence also. I am extremely competent at passage planning, chart work and helming. My sailing school selected me as creating one of the most comprehensive and complete passage plans they had ever seen. I have passed all my theory exams at more than 95%
I am a qualified chef and my fine-dining restaurant is featured in the prestigious Gault et Millau restaurant guide. My dishes take inspiration from local ingredients. I take classic local dishes and then add a modern twist. I like to fuse Asian spices into old classics. I believe a plate of food should look as divine as it tastes. We eat with lots more than just our sense of taste. Creating the best possible dish with the ingredients available is very important to me. I am looking for more mile-building and delivery opportunities to increase my logged miles - I want to gain as much experience as possible so I can pass my YachtMaster and OceanMaster exams - I hope to eventually take my Master200 then Master500 exams. I have my own yacht that I love sailing whenever possible. She's a 47ft ketch rigged yacht, built in Steel. She's equipped for serious long-distance cruising and eventually I want to circumnavigate, hopefully do the North West Passage and the Drake Passage. I love exploring off the beaten-track. I am fun, friendly and outgoing - easy to get along with, quick to laugh and have a joke, but quick to be serious and focused as necessary. I appreciate openess and honesty and value diversity and uniqueness in every humanbeing. I feel it necessary to tell you that I'm gay. I shouldn't have to and in this day and age it shouldn't be a problem, but I am a realist too and sadly this will be an issue to some people. If you would have a problem with my sexuality, then I thank you for reading this far and ask that you kindly move on. I don't wear my sexuality on my sleeve and it doesn't define who I am. It is but one aspect of me and something that I want to be open and clear about from the start.
