Looking for a Novice Crew position
Hi, folk call me Zen (short for Zenan), for three decades I have thought of living aboard a boat and or blue water cruising. I wish to crew to gain experience and eventually obtain my skippers licence, with the aim of buying a live aboard in 6 years time or so, to spend the following 10 years cruising.
I grew up on a farm and throughout my childhood years helped maintain agricultural equipment, making me a competent mechanic and fix it man, electrics, water, gas, diesel engines etc. I have experience in, including computers, having always built my own PC.
Although I have no on-hands sailing experience I have been studying the theory and watching other pro sailors and cruisers on videos, I have apps on my tablet and study all that I can on sailing and maritime regulations, navigation, rigs, and even storm sailing, all giving me the knowledge to sail, I just need to put it in to practice.
Omnivorous and domesticated, I adapt to most environments well; as I live alone, I am self sufficient, another advantage when at sea. I travel light and live modestly.
Socially, I enjoy a mix and have friends across a plethora of social classes, able to dine silver service or at a road side snack bar, I enjoy equally all the experiences that life has to offer. Yet I remain politely British and pleasantly eccentric.
My past roles have been varied from hosting comedy and radio shows, directing and producing theatre plays, acting and even teaching English. I have for the past two seasons worked at a Summer School with children from 8 to 17 years old as a House Parent and Drama Tutor, so I am kid friendly.
I am an animal lover, so no issues there. I can horse ride well, but would like to learn scuba diving as part of my sailing experience.
If you are looking for a 1.87 meter tall, willing seaman to accompany your boat and crew drop me a line, I am quiet flexible.
Happy sailing
Zen
