Looking for a Deckhand or 2nd Engineer position
I hope you’re well. My name is Lucas Dixon, and I’m currently looking for a deckhand or crew position onboard your M/Y. I’m based in Antibes and ready to relocate at my own expense immediately.
I recently wrapped up the 2024 Med season, where I gained hands-on experience across multiple daywork and temp roles. These included washdowns, teak maintenance, yacht detailing, and charter prep—building a solid foundation in deck work and onboard standards.
Alongside this, I bring a strong sailing background. I’ve logged over 3,000 nautical miles—mostly offshore passages along the South African and Southern Atlantic coastlines—and skippered more than 1,500 of those miles myself. I’ve also raced on a variety of boats (monohulls and catamarans, 12m to 40m) in offshore regattas based out of Cape Town. These experiences have made me confident under pressure and adaptable at sea.
I also have a deep passion for fishing. I’ve spent years fishing recreationally on rivers and along the South African coast, as well as deep-sea fishing and trawling during boat deliveries. I’m confident setting up tackle, maintaining gear, and assisting with guest trips where fishing is part of the experience.
I hold my RYA Coastal Skipper (Sail) and AEC 1, and I’m currently working toward Yachtmaster Offshore (Sail) and AEC 2 to grow my technical and navigational skills. I’m also comfortable with basic maintenance and repair work on sailing vessels.
Outside of yachting, I’ve played competitive sports—football, cycling, and of course, fishing—which have all shaped my endurance, discipline, and ability to work as part of a team.
I’d love the opportunity to bring my energy, skill set, and solid work ethic to a hardworking crew. I’ve attached my CV and am happy to share references or more info if needed.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Lucas Dixon
