Sharing the experience to Lord Howe Island
Hello ocean lovers
My name is Sarah and my partner is Julian. We have been living aboard our cosy floating home, Manuriki, for 2.5years. We are on our way back from beautiful North Queensland and have plans to sail to the amazing Lord Howe Island for Christmas and New Years.
We would love to share this exciting journey with two easy going, kind, humble ocean lovers that are up for the 3ish day crossing from Gold Coast to Lord Howe. We aim to spend 2 weeks at the island weather dependent.
You do not need to be an experienced sailor but must be up for an adventure and resilient enough to handle sea sickness if it occurs and happy to sacrifice your sleep to keep watch on the passage to and from Lord Howe. We can teach you all about sailing our precious home. You must be prepared to help cook, clean, lend a hand anyway you can and keep the boat organise.
There is a fair amount of environmental, application and mooring fees involved with the trip and costly biosecurity requirements. It is not simply a destination where you can turn up and anchor. We will need to kindly ask for a contribution of $1200 per person for the 3 weeks which would also cover food, fuel and some extra safety equipment we will need to get for the two extra crew.
We love our boat ‘Manuriki’ and we are sure you will too. She is a 41ft Steel Monohull sailing boat that was complete in 2009. She is full of charm with her design being from the late 1980’s but with a more modern fresh feeling interior. On board you will enjoy joining us for for meals in her cockpit, watching sunset on the bow, having bbq’s, reading books, playing card games and watching the occasional movie.
Lord Howe is a very exciting destination with plenty to do including surfing, hiking and snorkelling.
