Sailing in the Eastern Caribbean
My name is Richard, I'm a Kiwi, and I've been sailing and living aboard various boats for the past sixteen years. I've made yacht deliveries across the Atlantic and Pacific, run charters, run backpacker trips between Panama and Cartagena and made many visits to trade with the Warao people of the Orinoco River Delta in Venezuela.
I'm currently on the island of Saint Martin doing maintenance on my boat and going out for the occasional day sail.
I'll be working as a surf lifeguard at the Tribal Gathering in Panama and when I return to the boat towards the end of March my plan is to sail down the Windward Islands towards Trinidad.
Many people have learned to sail with me over the years and this is an opportunity for novice sailors to improve their skills and also learn about boat maintenance and repair.
I've hosted more than sixty guests through couchsurfing and have sailed with dozens of crew.
This vessel can comfortably accommodate four crew and basic expenses will be met on a shared basis.
I'm constantly training (in a somewhat casual way) for the next triathlon, wherever it may be, (just competed on Saba ('where even the swim is uphill'), so it would be great if you're into trail-running, swimming, mtn biking or kayaking.
I've recently been extending my freediving ability (certified AIDA2) so freediving buddies are very welcome.
Don't be shy to message me if you are interested and want to know more.
